God Will Always be Faithful to Us

Life has been quiet and simple lately, just the way we love it. There isn’t a whole lot going on except preparing for a baby and trying to start up my small business again.

I’ve been working on a little dream I’ve had for many years the last few weeks – selling greeting cards! I’ve always wanted to print and sell cards, words written in any form have always been a beautiful thing for me. I’m so excited about this project but it has also been a big learning curve for me. I’m so grateful for the partnership of marriage because I can ask all my silly questions to my husband!

Besides starting my greeting card business, this season of our lives has certainly been an interesting one. The other day, as I lay in bed, worrying about a hundred different situations that seemed to always be going in circles, I had this random thought, ‘I wonder five years from now, if I look back to this time, what will I remember?’

I knew the answer without thinking about it, I will remember the faithfulness of God. No matter how many years I look back, I see it. I know five years from now, I will see it still. God will always be faithful to us. No matter the house we live, the jobs we have or who is or who isn’t in government.

“If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13 NIV

There were difficult times and days in our lives but God brought us through and out of so many storms. Though there are things that haven’t changed and prayers that have gone unanswered for decades, I know in the next five years, I will look back and say, ‘Our God has been so faithful, look how far He has brought us.’

When I eat my meals, drive to work, or relax after, I remember God’s provision and faithfulness in this land. When I see the sun, feel the wind and watch the trees sway, I am reminded He is still on his throne and I am in his hands. When I see my husband’s sweet face after a long day from work, I remember God’s kindness to me. Grace beyond what I deserve and love beyond I can imagine. When I fill up my cart with groceries and then add a little treat in there too, I remind myself that it is God who gives us the privilege of enjoyment.

It has always been God who has provided for us, held us and brought us so far. It was never our jobs, our own wisdom or our talents. It was God’s grace and mercy. But sometimes, we forget that and wonder why God hasn’t done that little thing we prayed so hard for. But if you look around you, you will find that there are more blessings around you than unanswered prayers.

None of us deserve the life God has given us, we are so unworthy of God’s goodness and love. And yet, He still died for us and gave us more than we can ask think or imagine. He became poor for our sake so we might become rich. He became the scum of the earth so we might have an eternal inheritance. He gave up his life so we may have life forevermore.

I am grateful for Jesus’ work on the cross and his faithfulness. Five years from now, when you look back to this moment, what will you see? I hope you see God’s faithfulness and provision for you even if you are in a difficult place right now.
