Here’s To Starting Again

It’s been almost three years since I wrote here. I have thought about blogging for the last few years but somehow felt like I didn’t have any words left in me.

Looking back, I’m not quite sure what triggered the pause, but it might have had something to do with my schedule back then and then eventually feeling burned out. I remember almost sighing in relief that I did not have to create in some ways. Ironically, the last blog I wrote was titled, ‘This is resurrection.’

But a few weeks ago, I felt the small tug in my heart to start writing again. It was hard to start back over. It took quite a bit of discipline and a lot of saying ‘no’ to things that don’t matter. Now, I’m slowly learning to say ‘no’ to those things that take away from the places I actually want to show up to.

I am trying to intentionally make plans with my week, and I’m not pushing myself beyond what God has created me for. This has given me space to dream, read and learn.

Two months ago, I felt I needed to take a break from scrolling and uninstall all social media. It was a hard thing to practice. I failed on most days, but as I fasted from scrolling, I felt I was giving space for God to breathe new ideas into my mind, where I before filled them with recommended reels by Meta.

That was not how I wanted to spend the time God gave me here on this erth. I saw this talk on TedX (The Battle for your time: Exposing the Costs of Social Media) that really opened my eyes to see how much time we spend on our phones; it is unbelievable. The Bible says, ‘Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.’ Psalms 90:12 (NIV).

Rest and a break from scrolling through social media helped me realize how much I missed writing. This was really what God created me to do. To write about His goodness and encourage those along the way that needed a little courage.

I’m learning how to use social media in a more healthier way. I’m so excited to restart this journey and build this community again. If you feel encouraged by any of my blogs, please do share them with your social network or a friend. Also, leave a comment, I would love to hear from you. It would make me so happy to know you’re here reading these words!

Questions to consider:

What has God called you to do? Where are you investing your time? I hope you make space and time for God’s plans for your life. This week, try to practice taking a real rest by reducing your time scrolling through social media.
