Last year, while visiting a friend’s home, their little girl (whom we shall call Ruth) asked me if I’d like to make loom band bracelets with her. Despite the fact that I hardly engage in extra-girly activities, I decided to play along. I had the perfect vision of how I wanted my bracelet to look. So I learned the technique quickly and began to make my first ever loom band bracelet which was going to look awesome (or so I thought). Halfway through my brilliant extra-girly adventure, not only did I realize my bracelet looked horrible but I heard a snap. Little Ruth who was working very keenly on her own bracelet, looked at me and exclaimed ‘Oh no, it broke!’. I looked down at the two separate pieces in my hands in disappointment. All the dreams I had for my bracelet just snapped (dramatic me). Sigh.

So we ditched the bracelets and went for lunch. After lunch, I sat around with the adults to make conversation. It was then that I noticed the absence of Ruth. Just when I wondered where she was, she walks up to me from her bedroom and hands me my broken bracelet – It was no longer broken!! I stared at her and the bracelet in wonder. It was fixed! She even put a tiny clasp on it!
How did she do it! I was so certain that this bracelet was irreparable. I was going to add this to my failed projects list (It is pretty long!).

That’s when I felt the Holy Spirit whisper ‘There is nothing too broken that I cannot fix‘.

Every time I look at this bracelet, hope ebbs in my heart. Hope that God will breathe life into every buried dream. Faith that there’s nothing too broken, or too lost that’s beyond the scope of His redemptive power. He is the God who specializes in restoring the broken. Broken relationships, broken marriages, broken homes, broken careers, broken lives, broken hearts, and even broken dreams. He fixes them all.

Will you trust Him today with your broken? Or do you think your broken is above His power?

Dear friend, God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly and above all that you can imagine. Your ‘broken’ doesn’t scare Him. In fact, He is using it right now to build something eternal. Trust Him.
